Lower Property Taxes & Protect Taxpayers

Property taxes have hit Jeffco homeowners and seniors hard, and people deserve a
commissioner who actually understands how the system works instead of just promising
relief.
So let me be honest with you — the kind of honesty a CPA owes you. Your property tax
bill is made up of many pieces: schools, fire districts, water, your city, and more. The
county is only one line on that bill. No commissioner can wave a wand and erase your
whole tax bill, and anyone who implies otherwise isn’t being straight with you. But the
county portion is the part I’d be directly responsible for — and there I’ll fight hard.

What I’ll actually do:
I’ll hold the line on the county’s mill levy and push to use tools like temporary mill levy
credits — a mechanism Colorado counties can use to lower the effective tax rate and
give money back to taxpayers in strong years, rather than just letting the county collect
more.
And I’ll make the county’s revenue and spending transparent, so you can see exactly
what your county taxes buy — and hold me accountable for it.
Colorado’s recent property tax changes (including new assessment rates, homestead-
value exemptions, and a state cap on annual revenue growth) are complex and still
shaking out. You want a commissioner who reads that fine print for a living. That’s me.
