Every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, and every business deserves a
community where people and property are protected. Public safety is a core function of
county government — and it’s one I’ll never treat as an afterthought.
The Board of Commissioners doesn’t run the Sheriff’s Office directly, but it funds it —
and that funding decision is one of the most important a commissioner makes. I’ll fight to
make sure our Sheriff’s deputies, first responders, and emergency services have the
staffing, training, and equipment they need to keep Jeffco safe. Supporting law
enforcement, to me, means backing it up in the budget, not just in speeches.
I’ll also apply the same standard here that I apply everywhere: results and
accountability. Safety dollars should go where they measurably protect people —
response times, emergency preparedness (including wildfire readiness, which is a real
risk in much of Jeffco), and the programs that actually reduce crime. I’ll insist on
knowing what we’re getting for the investment, because keeping people safe is too
important to fund on autopilot.
