Jefferson County is a place people want to be — and that’s a good thing. But growth
handled badly means traffic, strain on services, and rising costs for the families who are
already here. Managing land use and growth in unincorporated Jeffco is one of the
commissioners’ central jobs, and it has to be done with the community, not to it.
I believe in local control: the people who live in a neighborhood should have a real voice
in what happens around them, and decisions about Jeffco should be made in Jeffco —
not handed down from someone else’s agenda. I’ll protect meaningful public input in
land-use decisions and make sure residents are heard before decisions are made, not
after.
I also believe growth should pay its own way. When new development creates new
costs — roads, services, infrastructure — those costs shouldn’t quietly land on existing
taxpayers. As a CPA, I’ll make sure the county does the honest math on what growth
actually costs and who pays for it.
Responsible growth means balancing opportunity with the character, safety, and
affordability of the communities we already love. That balance is exactly the kind of
careful, case-by-case judgment I’ll bring to the job.
